“I would like to thank Charles and Joanne Compton for providing me the Charles and Joanne Compton ’79 Scholarship over the last two years. During my time at Stevens, I have been challenged academically to build my study, organizational, and critical thinking skills, and I have been able to apply my engineering knowledge into real-world projects. I have taken a variety of classes that I have found interesting and relevant to my future career.
I am involved in a variety of activities, such as Theta Phi Alpha, the Society of Women Engineers, the women’s club soccer team, and the Order of Omega, Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Theta Phi Alpha has given me a network of sisters who encourage me to be the best I can and support me in academics and leadership. I have taken on leadership roles in the sorority, which has helped me develop communication skills along with improving my time management. Order of Omega, Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi have given me opportunities to connect with other leaders on campus and improve my leadership skills.
Following my graduation in May, I will be starting a full-time job as a civilian mechanical engineer at NAVAIR in New Jersey, where I interned this past summer in the Prototype and Manufacturing Department. My career aspirations involve eventually going into the aerospace or aeronautical industry and working to design aircrafts or spacecrafts. I know I will be prepared following my time here at Stevens.”
