Ashley Montufar

B.E. Mechanical Engineering ’14
M.Eng. Engineering Management ’14

"Now, as a scholarship donor myself, I am a role model to scholarship recipients. We donors are proud to call Stevens our alma mater, and that is why we help the next generation of students, to make Stevens even better year after year."

Ashley works as a senior engineer for ExxonMobil’s Pilot Plant and Laboratory Engineering group. “The great thing is that I get to own a project from start to finish, meaning I am part of the research team creating a new unit or rig all the way through engineering, cost and controls, and working directly in the field to lead the construction and commissioning activities.”

Ashley was an active student. She served as president of the Student Government Association and as campus president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. She was a sister of Delta Phi Epsilon and a member of the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.

In addition to giving her a strong technical foundation, Ashley believes Stevens helped her develop soft skills. “Working in teams with people of different backgrounds and presenting to groups wasn’t a new challenge, since I did a lot of that within my design courses. Stevens also makes sure to equip freshman with the opportunities for internships, co-op placements or research. By graduation, I already had three terms of work experience as an engineering intern, which led to my success in finding a post-graduate job before Halloween of my senior year.”

Now that she’s established in her career, Ashley is repaying the support she received as a student, including a Joseph J. Cincotta ’34 Italian Community Center Scholarship. “Being able to meet donors and see where scholarship money comes from meant a lot to me. I saw how these alumni were successful after graduating from Stevens, and that I could be in that position one day too. Now, as a scholarship donor myself, I am a role model to scholarship recipients. We donors are proud to call Stevens our alma mater, and that is why we help the next generation of students, to make Stevens even better year after year.”
