Meet Kevin Aeckerle ’16

Your passion. Our passion. #StevensPride

The Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship and the Edward H Lutz Term Memorial Scholarship Fund recipient, Kevin Aeckerle ’16, is grateful for the generosity of our donors and worked resolutely to make the most of his time at Stevens. He graduated from Stevens with a degree in Chemical Engineering and today works as an Engineer for The Boeing Company in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. While at Stevens, Kevin consistently earned Dean’s List honors. He served as the Captain of the Men’s Volleyball Team as well as the Student Assistant Coach of the Women’s Volleyball Team. As a brother of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, he was involved in many projects and activities to give back to the community and university.

On his Stevens’ education, Kevin believes that both his course work and cooperative education opportunities gave him the knowledge and confidence to succeed in his professional career. A chemical engineer by degree, Kevin became an engineering consultant for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, working with various clients for about 18 months. While in this position, he began to enjoy working in a manufacturing environment with mechanical tools and equipment. Kevin recently moved to the Philadelphia area to become an engineer supporting the assembly line of military helicopters at The Boeing Company. He was able to make this industry change due to the diverse and in-depth courses offered by Stevens Institute of Technology. Courses such as Calculus, Mechanics of Solids, Heat Transfer and the Engineering Design Core helped him become a well-rounded engineer.

Regarding the scholarships that he was privileged to receive: “I would like to personally thank you for the Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship and the Edward H Lutz Term Memorial Scholarship Fund. In this day and age, college has become a staple to those who want to make a difference in the world. College is a place to grow as a person, meet future colleagues and to equip yourself with the tools and knowledge you’ll need in order to be successful in this world. Although college has become nearly a necessity in life, the cost of this education is sometimes unattainable. This was the case for me. I am a first-generation college student with two other siblings. Without these scholarships, I most likely would not have been able to attend an institution as prestigious as Stevens. Without your help, I would not have been able to obtain the tools and knowledge to make this world a better place for us all. Thank you.”
