Class of 1966 Indicator Log
Class Secretary: Stephen W. Fields
Oct. 30, 2015 — Al Zorner, our class reunion chairman, reports in.
“By now, you know that our 50th Reunion will be June 3 through June 5, 2016. Can you believe 50 years have gone by? We will be joining the ‘Old Guard’!
“We hope our mailed information has stimulated your interest in joining the Class of 1966 for our 50th Reunion. Future mailings will include the activities planned for each day of the event, our 50th Reunion Logbook entry form, a request for your ‘remember when…’ stories to fill our Memories Book and any other ideas you might have to make this the best-ever reunion.
“As of this writing, with 204 classmates, only 20 indicated they would not be able to attend while 25 plan to attend and 25 were unsure. We will make ev-ery effort to contact the remaining 134 classmates through November.
“The Class of 1966 website has been launched at https://connect.stevens.edu/classof66 and features a ‘Who’s coming?’ page and a ‘publications’ page. The publications page contains the latest communications, the class log from the September issue of The Indicator, as well as links to The Stute (going back to when we were students). If there are anypictures, stories, etc., that you would like included, please let me know. Also, if you have any contact information for the remaining 34 classmates with no contact information (seen under ‘Lost Classmates’), please forward them to me as soon as possible so we can include them in future reunion communications.
“Even if you are unable to attend, you can participate by completing an entry form for the 50th Reunion Class of ’66 Logbook. If you have not done so, consider the Logbook as a means of communi-cating to your classmates what you have been doing and plan to do.
“A Facebook page for the Class of 1966 has been created.. We would like you to join our group and begin adding people.
“The 50th reunion will be the best opportunity to see your classmates and share in this fun-filled event. If your old buddies have indicated they were unsure or did not plan to attend, contact them and convince them to meet you at the reunion. If we can help, send me an email to azorner@earthlink.net.”
And from Philip Crooke: “I am involved with a little startup company that is trying to commercialize some mathematical models that we have developed at Vanderbilt. If it works out, then I will probably stay involved with the project. The rest of my time will have been spent with the wife, probably traveling more. Best, Phil.”
As for me, I took a little boat trip this summer – The Queen Mary II from Brooklyn, New York, to Southampton, England. Eight days at sea. The food was great and the live jazz after dinner was won-derful; but I’ll never do it again. I’d rather just check into a hotel in Palm Beach, FL – about a 20-minute drive from my home. Oh, and I upgraded my BMW SUV to a 2016 Range Rover Sport – supercharged V8 putting out 510 horsepower. Now I need to find a really good radar detector.
