Trust from ’60 alum comes to fruition through scholarship fund

Dave Hill ’60 dedicated money for Stevens in a trust several years ago and decided the right time to liquidate it was in line with his 55th class reunion. For Hill, the gift makes a special commemoration for both his time at Castle Point and beyond.

He contributed the trust to the Class of 1960 Scholarship Fund, which was started in honor of four classmates who died young, three of whom were brothers of Hill’s in the Chi Psi fraternity. “The impetus to start the fund was the death of some good friends, and it’s a cause that’s near and dear to my heart,” Hill said.

Now retired after a career in telecommunications, Hill hopes the scholarships will enable a new generation of Stevens students to receive the same wide education he had. He remembers having to take many credits in nearly every field of engineering from electrical and mechanical to civil and chemical.

“In my life and in my career that made an enormous difference,” Hill said. “The fact that I knew a reasonable amount about every one of those sciences enabled me to participate in places and in ways I couldn’t have done any other way. Stevens provided a good education, and I’d like to see that continue.”
