Class of 1986 Indicator Log

Class Secretary: Dorothy M. Haven

Oct. 30, 2015 — Hello fellow classmates! As no one sent in anything about what’s going on in their lives, I’m going to write a bit about what’s going on in my life. Then I’ll end up with a bit about the class reunion coming up June 3 - June 5, 2016.

I ended the last log all excited about going to GenCon, the largest gaming convention in the U.S. More than 61,000 people attended, spilling out into the nearby hotels. It was amazing — every board game that you can imagine was represented, plus card games galore. The vendor room was stunning, packed with demos, people trying on cool t-shirts and other clothes. There were armorers, sword makers, LARPs (live action role playing games), gamers of all ages, from the very young to those in their 70s and 80s. I won a small Munchkin tournament—yay me!

Joan Wendland has a gaming company called Blood & Cardstock Games. If interested in seeing what she has to offer, she still works a full-time consulting job. Trish Bocklage ’85 and her husband John Lach ’87 helped out in the booth since Joan had hurt her knee pretty badly.

What else have I been up to? I was lucky and won VIP tickets to the rock band “Halestorm!” Signa-tures, meet and greet with the band (Lzzy is sooo sweet!), open bar during the show, pizza. It was a great evening!

Last, but certainly not least, is information on how to participate in the organization process of our 30th reunion! If you are at all interested in becom-ing further involved, please contact Emma Hamm in the Stevens Alumni Office at ehamm@stevens.edu or (201) 216-3659.

I think that’s it for now. If anything else pops up in the next few days, I’ll send it on. But it’s been very quiet. Best regards.
