Monday

Today’s highlight was my Introduction to Environmental Engineering exam. I felt prepared, so it was not too bad. This class is a technical elective that civil engineering majors are suggested to take. I was also relieved because that was the last exam I will take for another several weeks. So I was able to designate more of my time to senior design.

Tuesday

On Tuesdays, I have senior design. Since my team needs to keep our sponsor
(engineering firm Naik Consulting) in the loop, we had a conference call. The meeting was slightly stressful, because even though we got a lot accomplished on our bridge design, we still have a lot more to do. Our goal is to get most of our progress done by the beginning of April so that we can have the last month to focus just on the final touches before design day. Later, I attended a stepping workshop. The Black Student Union cohosted with the Multicultural Greek Council, and I gave a presentation on the history of step dancing. The workshop was an exciting event since stepping is an art and a way to express yourself.

Wednesday

I participated in a student panel for visiting high school juniors and seniors. This was particularly meant to inspire young women of color, and to show them our daily experiences at a STEM school like Stevens. I loved taking part in the panel because if I can inspire even at least one girl to work hard to reach her goals, I feel like I am doing my job as a graduating senior.

Friday

Today I did not have class. I did however go to work from 8am to 5pm. I am working part-time as an intern for a construction company on a job site in Jersey City. My daily tasks are generally superintendent work, and I am learning so much. Construction management is what I want to do after I graduate, so this job is helping me learn as much as I can before I start to work full-time. Even though I was not able to go to Founders Day Ball, I was able to come home in time to help my dad with his soccer training. Keeping up with assisting my dad helps me towards my future goal of becoming a soccer coach one day.

Saturday

I was home for most of the day. Going to school an hour away from home has its benefits, like being able to go home whenever I want to see my family. For the most part, today was designated towards family and friends. Having a day to unwind is very relaxing and feels great after a busy week.
