President Nariman Farvardin cordially invites you to the virtual investiture ceremony of Dr. Jeffrey Nickerson, the inaugural Steven Shulman ’62 Endowed Chair for Business Leadership.

This academic tradition will celebrate the teaching and research of Dr. Nickerson and the generosity of Steven Shulman in supporting faculty excellence.

Distinguished Guests

DR. JEFFREY NICKERSON has taught at Stevens since 2001 and was named the Steven Shulman ’62 Endowed Chair of Business Leadership and Professor of Digital Innovation in 2020. He is a principal investigator for an NSF-funded project building a cooperative research network to consider the future of artificial intelligence and machine learning. His industry experience includes designing some of the first program trading systems on Wall Street. Professor Nickerson earned a doctorate in computer science from New York University, a master’s in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design, and a bachelor’s in visual design from University of California, Berkeley.

STEVEN SHULMAN ’62 M.S. ’63 HON. D.ENG. ’02 has enjoyed a six-decade career in investment banking and private equity. Through his own enterprises and for other entities, he has operated in diverse markets spanning medical devices, automotive parts, restaurants and commercial real estate. He served as vice chairman of the Stevens Board of Trustees and as chairman of the search committee that recruited President Nariman Farvardin in 2011. He received the Stevens Honor Award in 1990 and the Outstanding Contribution Award during the 2017 Stevens Awards Gala. Dr. Shulman's family foundation, the Hesed Foundation, supports a fund, established by his children to honor their father, that provides opportunities for Stevens students to conduct faculty-guided research during the summer.
