Sean Hanlon, CFP® ’80

Sean Hanlon, CFP® ’80 is the CEO of Hanlon Investment Management ("Hanlon"), an asset management, wealth management, services and financial technology company he founded in 1999. Hanlon provides a fully integrated managed accounts program and wealth management platform for advisors, family offices, broker/dealers, banks, and institutions, along with the over 5,000 clients they serve. Mr. Hanlon earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1980 and worked in engineering for three years post-graduation. He began his career in wealth management with Merrill Lynch, was recruited to Paine Webber as the nucleus for a new office, and then formed Hanlon. Mr. Hanlon earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 1997. He has been a member of the Stevens Institute of Technology Board of Trustees since 2010, has served as Chairman of the Investment Committee and Finance Committee, and was a Co-Chair of The Power of Stevens Campaign. Sean and his wife Cathy keep numerous charitable causes in their giving, especially Stevens and the Hanlon Financial Systems Center, which he is Chairman of the Advisory Board, located in the School of Business at Stevens.
