The David Belanger Fund

In commemoration and celebration of the late David G. Belanger’s contributions to the Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) graduate program of Stevens Institute of Technology and the Data Science community in general, Stevens has established a fellowship fund in his memory.

David was an inspiring mentor and friend to hundreds of his students at Stevens. Prior to joining Stevens, David spent 30 years at AT&T Bell Labs ultimately becoming the Chief Scientist of AT&T. A brilliant scientist, he contributed to groundbreaking advances in software and big data technologies.  He was a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) where he led efforts to define data strategy and standards in the big data era. David was also a founding member of the NJ Big Data Alliance - an alliance of NJ academic institutions and corporations that aims to promote Big Data education and research in New Jersey.

This fund will provide an annual fellowship in his name for a qualified graduate student in the BI&A program at the Stevens School of Business.
