CASTLE POINT NEWS

DECEMBER 2019

FROM THE OFFICE OF MATT GWIN, AVP ANNUAL GIVING AND ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT

Welcome to the December edition of Castle Point News. This past month, it has been wonderful celebrating the holidays with our Stevens alumni family! Close to 200 alumni returned to Castle Point for the annual SAA Holiday Party. The evening was full of delicious food, festive drinks, Stevens stories, and lots of laughter (see the pictures below). Across the country, local alumni gathered together in DC, Wisconsin, Houston, Southern California, Central Jersey, and Northern California to celebrate the season. Thank you to all those who attended one of these events. Looking forward to 2020, there is much to be excited about with many more opportunities to reconnect and to come together! We will have the kick-off to Stevens 150th Anniversary, the 100th Annual Alumni Weekend, the Stevens Day of Giving, a SAA Dinner & a Forum, the 2020 Stevens Awards Gala and more. Information on these events will be coming shortly. In the meantime, mark your calendars to join us for the Stevens Alumni Association Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

During this season of giving, we would like to take a moment to celebrate our dedicated and generous alumni. Thank you for your continued engagement and philanthropy throughout the year. Involvement and financial support from our alumni community have a direct and meaningful impact on students and the university. This fiscal year, over 1,000 alumni have already made a gift to support student success, faculty excellence, and improvements across our vibrant campus. If you have not done so already, please consider making a financial gift to Stevens by December 31. Your gift helps to ensure that Stevens continues its tremendous upward trajectory, while helping the university meet its midyear alumni giving participation goal of 8%. With the current participation rate at nearly 6%, this goal is in site!

As we head into this year of milestones, opportunities, and once in a lifetime celebrations, we are energized for the opportunity to do so 48,000 alumni strong. With the holidays approaching, from our offices to your home, we wish you all the joys of the season and much health and happiness in the New Year.

GATEWAY ACADEMIC CENTER GETS A GRAND OPENING

Fitting for a grand opening, members from across the Stevens community gathered to celebrate the new Gateway Academic Center. More than 200 people attended a reception that spanned the center’s two buildings and glass skybridge.

Throughout 89,500 square feet at the corners of Sixth and Hudson Streets in Hoboken, the Gateway Academic Center adds 10 smart classrooms, 13 advanced labs and 45 faculty offices, and features a large lecture staircase. With a versatile array of academic space, it is presumable that every Stevens student, regardless of major, will attend at least a handful of classes inside Gateway during their time on campus.
